School Expansion
The expansion and greenhouse of the Lexington Friend’s Preschool was inspired by Montessori concepts, aiming for a welcoming and peaceful space. The use of wood, light, and a neutral palette creates a natural and open design in the entry space and classroom, which aligns with the Montessori education. The entirety of the environment creates a geometric design that can be seen throughout the greenhosue and expansion through details and structure.
The parameters of this project included building a new entry space, expansion of the existing classroom, and a new greenhouse for the Lexington Friend’s Preschool. The design of these spaces had to utilize the square footage given and incorporate Montessori morals and aesthetic, which relied heavily on a primary use of wood and a plain color palette.
